50+ Gift Ideas for Homesteaders
Do you have family or friends who are homesteaders and you just don’t know what to get them for Christmas or maybe a birthday? Well today is your lucky day because I’m going to share with you a great list of gift ideas for homesteaders!
Homesteading has many different aspects and areas to focus on, so I am going to break this gift list down into those specific areas (garden, kitchen, poultry, books etc.)
This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure here.
Many of these products I am linking to Amazon, but I also encourage you to shop local. If you are in the Kootenays, I suggest checking out Kootenay Industrial Supply Ltd. as I have purchased many of the items you will see from there.
Bogs, Hunters or any type of gumboots, wellies etc. Boots are imperative on a homestead.
I love my Bogs as they are super comfortable and I can literally wear them all year round. This is honestly a huge deal to me as I have issues with my feet (very wide, very little arches, plantar fasciitis, basically I need very comfortable and supportive footwear) and the Bog boots are hands-down the best I have ever found. So if someone you love is a homesteader and they have feet issues, get them some Bogs and they will be so happy!
Work Gloves – There are so many uses for gloves on a homestead. Gardening, firewood, building, cleaning coops, mucking stalls. Gloves (and lots of them!) are a very good thing!
HOMESTEAD GARDEN GIFT IDEAS

- Rakes – Both Metal rakes and Leaf rakes
- Wheelbarrow

HOMESTEAD KITCHEN GIFT IDEAS
Cast Iron – I LOVE my cast iron and it is so versatile I can use it on the stove, woodstove, firepit, in the oven etc). I would start with a skillet or a dutch oven. I have a griddle or a pizza pan on my list 😉 Oooh or a tripod for over the fire…
Food dehydrator– If they are a newbie I would suggest a smaller dehydrator to get started with. If they are experienced and love to dehydrate many different things then I suggest the Excalibur dehydrator.
Canning Supplies– Most homesteaders do at least some canning, so canning supplies are always a good idea.
Pressure Canning Supplies– Some things you need a pressure canner to can safely (meats, low acid foods etc.) so this might be something your loved one might need.
Fermenting supplies– Many foods are fermented: sourkrauts, kimchi, yogurt, pickles, kombucha etc. So if your homesteader friend is into fermenting, maybe they need something on this list.
- Yogurt Maker and/or
- Instant Pot (I got one last year from my dad for Christmas and I love it!)
- Kombucha Starter Kit
- Soapmaking Starter Kit
- Candlemaking Starter Kit

BOOKS & COURSES/CLASSES
I am a firm believer in having a library of useful books to have on hand. I know we live in a digital age and e-books are just as great for information but, if you live rural or are off-grid, then you know the joys and pains of living without power. And if the power is out, you can’t access your digital resources, so you need a small library of homesteading books.
Books:
- The Backyard Homestead
- The Encyclopedia of Country Living
- The Self Sufficient Life and How to Live it
- Food Preserving without Freezing or Canning
- The New Food Dehydrator Cookbook
- Welcome to the Farm: How-To Wisdom from the Elliott Homestead
- From France to the Farm
- Independence Days
- Put ‘Em Up!
- The Complete Book of Aromatherapy and Essential Oils
Also make sure you check out for  lots of great books on these subjects.
Bootstrap Farmer– Is a wonderful place to “Build your Farm, Grow your business” and has many resources for homesteaders and farmers like DIY Greenhouse kits and Aquaponics. Check it out!
