Addicting Un-turtle Bars

This is one of my favorite times of the year, Christmas baking time! I love to bake all sorts of yummy bar cookies, regular Christmas cookies, and treats and then throw them in the freezer to enjoy and share with family and friends around Christmas time. If those treats happen to include chocolate, caramel, and nuts? Heavenly!

These un-turtle bars have been a staple in our house for several years. I remember the first time I made them I was so amazed at how easy they were to make. They are called un-turtles because they are like a deconstructed Turtle (you know those yummy caramels, chocolate, and pecan goodies?) I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

So here we go,

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Beat together flour, sugar, and 1/2 cup butter. Press firmly into ungreased 9″ x 13″ pan. Arrange pecans over crust. Combine butter and brown sugar in saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Pour over pecans. Bake 15-20 minutes, or until bubbly. Sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Let stand for 3 minutes and spread chocolate. Cool completely and cut into small squares. Yummy!

Makes 40.

Are you addicted to chocolate like I am? Check out these other treats!
