Just Dabbling Garden Tour August 2018
Time for another garden tour!
August, what can I say about August? Well, that’s the month the weeds got away from me…..again. The smoke was so heavy most days that we could smell and taste it and well…I just didn’t want to be outside breathing in that nastiness when I had the choice.
So, here you have it, my totally overgrown, non-Pinterest worthy, real-life garden.
What is there and growing well in our August Garden? We have lots of potatoes, lots of beans (fresh green beans and Barlotti drying beans), quite a bit of cabbage and some lovely peppers. Our squash didn’t do so great, nor the bigger tomatoes, sadly.
It looks like I need to sit down with some of my favorite gardening books again and read up on some things to make my garden better next year.

There are real vegetable plants in among the weeds, I promise!
You can see the smoke haze a bit in the photo above, this was a pretty good day, not too smokey.
I even made a little video tour!
But you know what? To me, one of the joys of gardening is the ever-changing, start-fresh-in-the-spring, continuous dabbling and changing aspect of having a garden. Sure, my garden looks pretty crappy this year, but it has more production in it than last year.
And next year will be a whole new chapter in the life story of our homestead gardens. Right?
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of our homestead garden and don’t forget I love to see your garden tours/pictures as well so please share here or on facebook.
Have a wonderful day!
