Thrifty Thursday April 2015
Hi and welcome to Thrifty finds Thursday!
I love a bargain and I especially love the thrill of the hunt for treasures whether it’s at a thrift store, garage sale, flea market, roadside, or a one of a kind boutique kind of store. I used to get frustrated that we live in a small town and there aren’t really any big box stores to find the housewares that I wanted (no Homesense, no Target, no Ikea, we have a walmart the size of a postage stamp and that’s about it) The closest shopping is 3-4 hours away! But a few years ago I decided to have a look in the antique store in town and I LOVED it. I think I spent a few hours there just meandering and checking out all the cool, pretty, funky and unique things that were previously loved in someone’s home and imagining the stories those things could tell. I was hooked. And then I discovered a few magazines and a few blogs where real people found cool things and then used them in unusual and creative ways or just celebrated their unique-ness.
So, here we are and today I’m going to share some of my favorite finds so far. Starting with this lovely guy,
That chalkboard is definitely one of my favorites! It was a thrift store deal and I think I paid 12 dollars for it?
I found this guy a couple weeks ago,
I’ve been working on making our master bathroom more spa-like and “zen” so this sweet smiling Buddha is perfect. (either that or he might live on our deck outside for the summer) He’s made of wood and I paid $1 for him.
I’m always on the look out for book ends and have a small collection so far (they go so well with my collection of books 😉 I found the solid marble tiki guy above just a few days ago and he (and his twin) is so funky I had to have him. I’m always on the lookout for anything horse related as our middle daughter loves horses (and so do I!) and found this marble horse head guy a few months back, he also came as a set. He is currently living in my room as I just can’t give him up yet! Maybe when we finish redoing Cady’s room I’ll share them. 😉
I also have a thing for vintage/antique textiles (quilts, tablecloths, hankies etc) I spent $1.50 for the group below. Â Â
And finally this little vignette, everything but the book and lampshade were thrift finds (my favorite is the fan!)
How about you? I would love to hear about your favorite thrifty finds! Feel free to share in the comments
Have a great day
This really answered my problem, thank you!
